Déjà vu
How is it possible to feel familiarity with an event that has never happened before, yet seems so known to you?
Déjà vu was the central theme of this analog photography project that I created in collaboration with sofia paleari. We were drawn to that fleeting sensation—when a moment unfolds and yet feels layered with memory, as though time has folded in on itself. In this body of work, we sought to visually explore the emotional threshold where the new blurs into the known, and where perception echoes with fragments that were never truly lived.
Through the use of movement, reflection, and visual layering, we attempt to evoke the dissonance and beauty of déjà vu—a moment both intimate and elusive. Each image becomes a mirror of something half-remembered, challenging the viewer to question the reliability of their own memory and the nonlinear nature of experience.
